HUANG POH LO MEI SHU FA – Finally “BRANDED” 22.2.2016 - Chap

It’s the dream of every Calligrapher to have his own style
of writing. Calligraphy in Greek means “Beautiful Writing”, hence I try very
much to stick to this in Chinese Calligraphy, though there could be opposing
thoughts.
Recently I posed a question “ Why is it that the more famous
a Calligrapher in Chinese becomes, the uglier , his writing are”. Yes, and the
answers were all not that acceptable. People tend to pay more attention to the
Calligrapher, not his writings, it’s the singer, not the song. If he is famous,
even if he scribbles blindly, his writings become a piece of art. Just like
some people, these days who would stare at invisible art at museums for hours
or an abstract painting that no one understands, and give credit to the artists.
I like my writings to be alive, have elements of Ying and
Yang, fast and slow, wet and dry, thick and thin, fast and slow, and the
finished product must be appealing to any, not just the Chinese. It must have
beauty. This is my personal conviction,
with no reference nor comparison to any other artists.
I came up with this so called “Branding” after chatting with
Mr. Chia Dian Po, Mr. Tang San Chor and a Chinese Art Lecturer from China, and
dedicated to my Grandson Huang Lai An ( Mohd Qualish Rayyan)- HPL
